On the noise-induced passage through an unstable periodic orbit I: Two-level model

چکیده
We consider the problem of stochastic exit from a planar domain, whose boundary is an unstable periodic orbit, and which contains a stable periodic orbit. This problem arises when investigating the distribution of noise-induced phase slips between synchronized oscillators, or when studying stochastic resonance far from the adiabatic limit. We introduce a simple, piecewise linear model equation, for which the distribution of first-passage times can be precisely computed. In particular, we obtain a quantitative description of the phenomenon of cycling: The distribution of first-passage times rotates around the unstable orbit, periodically in the logarithm of the noise intensity, and thus does not converge in the zero-noise limit. We compute explicitly the cycling profile, which is universal in the sense that in depends only on the product of the period of the unstable orbit with its Lyapunov exponent. Date. On the Noise-Induced Passage through an Unstable Periodic Orbit II: General Case
Consider a dynamical system given by a planar differential equation, which exhibits an unstable periodic orbit surrounding a stable periodic orbit. It is known that under random perturbations, the distribution of locations where the system’s first exit from the interior of the unstable orbit occurs, typically displays the phenomenon of cycling: The distribution of first-exit locations is transl...

The study of differential equations is useful in to analyze the possible past or future with help of present information. In this paper, the behavior of solutions has been analyzed around the equilibrium points for Gause model. Finally, some results are worked out to exist the stable periodic orbit for mentioned predator-prey system.
متن کاملApproximating Chaotic Time Series through Unstable Periodic Orbits
There are many noise reduction methods for chaotic signals, but most only work over a limited signal to noise range. If chaotic signals are to be used for communications, noise reduction techniques which can handle larger amounts of noise (or deterministic noise) are needed. I describe here a method of approximating a chaotic signal by constructing possible sequences based on unstable periodic ...

An unsteady two-dimensional finite-volume solver was developed based on Van Leer’s flux splitting algorithm in conjunction with “Monotonic Upstream Scheme for Conservation Laws (MUSCL)” limiters to improve the order of accuracy and the two-layer Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model was also implemented. Two test cases were prepared to validate the solver. The computed results were compared with the e...
متن کاملNoise-induced phase space transport in two-dimensional Hamiltonian systems.
First passage time experiments were used to explore the effects of low amplitude noise as a source of accelerated phase space diffusion in two-dimensional Hamiltonian systems, and these effects were then compared with the effects of periodic driving. The objective was to quantify and understand the manner in which "sticky" chaotic orbits that, in the absence of perturbations, are confined near ...
